First Playable
Italy’s leading international event about game business
First Playable is the international business event dedicated to video game developers in Italy, organised by IIDEA and Toscana Film Commission – Fondazione Sistema Toscana, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to accelerate the growth and consolidation of the Italian video game industry. The initiative, whose first edition took place in 2019, is held every summer in Tuscany. Starting in 2025, it will be held in June in Florence, in the rooms of the La Compagnia cinema – the Casa del Cinema of the Tuscan Region – and in the Palazzo degli Affari, a modern conference centre just a few steps from Santa Maria Novella railway station.
The name First Playable was chosen because, in the industry, it marks a very important stage in the development of a video game, which is often the basis for the rest of the project. It is the milestone in which publishers invest and which is used by professional development teams in the video game production process.
First Playable is an event focused on the video game business, created with the aim of facilitating connections between Italian production companies and international operators to create new business opportunities. In line with the mission of IIDEA and its institutional partners, the event also has the more strategic objective of providing an international showcase for the development of Made in Italy video games, helping Italian companies to establish themselves in a competitive and constantly evolving international market such as that of video games.
