Internationalisation
Thanks to the collaboration and financial support of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italian video game companies are given the opportunity to participate in the most important international industry trade shows at advantageous prices every year. Specifically, international missions are promoted and organised to:
GDC Festival of Gaming: an annual conference for video game developers held in San Francisco in March. This event includes a trade show, networking events and award ceremonies, such as the Game Developers Choice Awards and the Independent Games Festival. There are also a variety of panels, conferences and roundtables led by industry professionals.
Gamescom: the world’s leading event for the video game industry, offering the most comprehensive trade platform in Europe. It takes place annually in August at Koelnmesse in Cologne.
Tokyo Game Show (TGS): one of the most important international trade fair dedicated to the video game industry. It takes place in September at the Makuhari Messe exhibition centre in Chiba, Japan.
In addition to initiatives supported by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) abroad, the internationalisation of the sector is also promoted through First Playable, Italy’s leading business event for the sector, which welcomes dozens of international publishers and investors to Florence every summer to meet with Italian developers.
IIDEA is always seeking new opportunities to support Italian developers in gaining international visibility and building connections with potential partners worldwide. Over the years, IIDEA has independently promoted other initiatives, most notably its participation in the Games Finance Market at Games London.
