Internationalisation

Every year, thanks to the collaboration and financial support of Italian Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italian video game developer companies have the opportunity to participate in the most important international video game industry fairs at advantageous economic conditions. In particular, international missions are promoted and organized at:

Game Developers Conference (GDC): annual conference for video game developers that takes place in March in San Francisco. The event includes a trade show, networking events and award ceremonies such as the Game Developers Choice Awards and the Independent Games Festival, as well as a variety of panels, conferences and round tables led by industry professionals.

Gamescom: the most important event in the world for the video game industry and the most complete commercial platform for the industry in Europe. It takes place every year in August in Cologne at Koelnemesse.

Tokyo Game Show (TGS): is a video game trade show held annually at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. It is the leading video game event in Asia and includes both a business and consumer side.

In addition to the initiatives supported by Italian Trade Agency, the internationalization of the sector is also promoted through First Playable, Italy’s leading international event for the video game business, which every year welcomes dozens of international publishers and investors to Florence in summer to meet Italian developers.

IIDEA is always looking for new opportunities to support Italian video game production companies in gaining international visibility and creating connections with potential international partners. Over the years, it has independently promoted other initiatives, in particular participation in the Games Finance Market of the London Games Festival thanks to the collaboration with Games London.
